Tuesday, February 7, 2012 / CNY @ Office
It was our first day of working after Chinese New Year break on 31st January 2012. And it was the day of Hoi Gong Ceremony or eye dotting ceremony(I googled!). Everyone was at the office at 8.30am, waiting for the lion dance performance to start.

Ready to pose!
After the lion dance performance, we went to eat dimsum breakfast at Kam Lun Tai Restaurant @ Sri Petaling. Here are some of the food we ate that day...

I was lucky to received a total of 8 angpaos(red packets) from my married colleagues and boss himself. Hehehe.

/ Imperial Palace Hotel, Miri
For one week, I have stayed in this hotel called Imperial Palace Hotel, Miri. It only costs RM145 for one standard room. I heard it is a 3-star hotel. For every guests in this hotel, we are given meal voucher(for the days you stay here) for free buffet breakfast(which costs RM20.00++ per adult) at Menawan Restaurant(at the ground floor) every morning.
It was pretty good, there are variety of choices. Such as Chinese food(fried mee, fried meehoon,), Malay food(nasi lemak, ayam masak merah, rendang), Western food(sausage, baked beans, scrambled eggs, waffle, pancakes, bread,), porridge, cereals, oatmeal and fruits. There are variety of drinks too such as cappucino, mocha, milo, choc-o-cino, juices, tea. But the choices of food will always be the same everyday. Like if today there are fried mee, beef sausages, tomorrow there will be fried mee hoon, chicken sausages. You get what I mean right? They only do minor changes to the choice of food.

Eventhough I slept well for the one week I stayed in this hotel, the only bad thing is that it was so cold in this hotel, even when I didn't turn on the air-cond. I can't stand the cold. Especially the blanket they provided is not thick enough. There are windows but they are all locked. But if you like cold, this hotel may be the perfect choice for you.

For Chinese New Year this year, I spent a lot of time with my family and relatives. I didn't get to meet my friends. But I did ate a lot of delicious food in Miri. Food I haven't eat for a long time. Let the photos do the talking, alright.

Fried kueh tiaw wet (with tomato sauce)
Sweet potato and yam with rojak sauce
Orange/mango pudding @ Double Star Cafe (It does sounds weird but it was quite nice)
Kueh Chap
I will definitely miss the food.

/ 1st Day of CNY 2012
This year, unlike the previous year, I went back to my hometown with my mum to celebrate Chinese New Year. Instead of direct flight to Miri this time, we brought tickets that need us to stop at Kuching(transit) for around 45 minutes and then only fly back to Miri (I didn't brought it purposely, of course. It is because of the costs and the time. But, indirect flight is so troublesome.)
As soon as we reached Kuching International Airport, we were told that there was some technical issues with the plane that we sat before, therefore we have to change to another plane which require us to wait for 2++ hours! It was scheduled to depart at 12.35pm from Kuching but it postponed to 3.00pm. Well, it was frustrating. But flying with Malaysia Airlines(MAS) has its benefits too. When we were told that the flight time has been delayed, they gave each of us a Marry Brown voucher for free lunch at Kuching International Airport. We can only choose from 3 types of meal set. So I choose this one.
The rice tasted digusting(like it was cooked with too much water) and the fried chicken was so oily. Yikes.
While waiting at Kuching International Airport...

So, that's how I spent my first day of Chinese New Year. Walking around and waiting at two different airports, with heavy luggage. Hope it's not too late, but Happy Chinese New Year to you all!
